Chapter 17
"Valentine's Day and Concert"
The next morning Stephanie woke up and Chris wasn’t beside her. She looked at the clock and it was 12:30. “Man I slept the day away!” she thought out loud. When she came out only the girls were sitting in the living room! “Where are the guys?” Stephanie asked. They all shrugged. “They just left a note saying they’d be back around four.” Kim said. “Weird!” Savannah said. “Yeah!” Steph agreed. Then they all sat down and talked. “Did you guys know Frankie and I are over?” Ashley asked. “No! Why?” they all said. “It happened last night. He said he had feelings for someone else, but didn’t say who. But I’m cool with it, I respect him and we are still friends.” she said. “Well that’s good.” Stephanie said and looked at Savannah. She looked like she had a lot on her mind. Later they watched a movie, then they decided to get dressed. They were all showered and dressed when the guys came in. “Hey where have ya’ll been?” Stephanie asked as she hugged Chris. “Nowhere!” they all smiled. Everyone laughed.
It was getting close to time for what Chris had planned. He told Stephanie he had a surprise for her and to get her purse. While she was getting it the people who didn’t have dates sat down to watch a movie. Greg, Britney, Kim, Jesse, Kayla and Matt left to do their thing. Frankie went over and asked Savannah something. Then she went over to Ashely. “Hey Ash, Frankie asked me if I wanted to go to dinner. Do you mind, because if you do I won’t go.” she asked her. “Oh, no it is ok. Ya’ll have fun!” she said. “Ok.” Savannah said and gave Ash a hug. She and Frankie left.
Stephanie came out and she and Chris said bye to the others and left. When they got down stair Stephanie was heading to the parking lot when Chris said, “No baby, this way!” motioning to the beach. “Oh.” she said and they went down to the beach. When they first got on the sand they both took off their shoes. “Ok, close your eyes.” Chris said covering Steph’s eyes. “Chris where are we going?” Steph asked giggling. “You’ll see.” he laughed as they stopped. “Ok.” he said as he uncovered her eyes. She saw the picnic blanket with rose petals on it and music was playing and candles were all around. “Chris! This is so sweet!!” she said hugging him. “Here sit down.” he said holding her hand while she sat; he sat beside her and then kissed her. “These are for you!” he said handing her the dozen roses and chocolates. “Oh thank you!” she said smelling of the roses. “This is all I got you!” she said handing him the poem the was in and envelope. “Aw. Thanks.” he said opening it. As he started reading it Stephanie said, “It isn’t much I know, and it isn’t very good, I mean...” she was interrupted by Chris asking, “Did you write this?” “Yeah.” she said blushing. He looked up at her and she saw a few tears in his eyes. “It is beautiful! I love it!” he said and kissed her. After the long kiss they both had tears in their eyes. “I didn’t mean for it to make you cry!” she said wiping her tears. “Oh no, they aren’t bad tears, it is just so beautiful and sweet!” he said wiping a tear from her cheek. “Oh...well it comes from my heart and it is true!” she said wiping a tear form his cheek. They kissed again then cuddled in to watch the sunset. They stayed down there for a long time. When they got back to the hotel it was eleven p.m. Everyone was asleep so they were quiet while they got ready for bed. Then they went to sleep.
The next day everyone got up and got ready. Then they headed to the amphitheater. The guys and girls were practicing. Then it was time for them to perform. Sweet Candy went first. Then Dream Street and then a few other bands. After the concert, everyone was backstage talking and partying. Chris and Stephanie were dancing then walked over to the food table. They looked over and saw Frankie and Savannah making out. “So they are together.” Steph said. “Yeah!” Chris laughed.
“Hey guys!” Frankie said holding Savannah in his lap. “Hey! When did this happen?” Chris asked. “Last night!” Savannah said, “Frankie asked me out when we were at dinner. Then we went and walked on the beach.” “Aw, that’s neat!” Chris said, “Hey have you two told them what ya’ll are going to do?” “No.” Savannah and Stephanie said together. “What are ya’ll gonna do?” everyone asked. “Chris wants us to sing for the manager.” Savannah said rolling her eyes and then laughed. “Yeah they sound great together.” Chris said. “Oh really!” Nikki said coming up with her snob squad. “Oh god not you guys again!” Jesse said. “Yeah little blondie, us!” Lindsey said. “Well let’s hear it!” Amy said snobbishly. “Let’s do it to show the snobs up!” Stephanie giggled to Savannah. “Yeah!” she whispered. They started singing the song Chris heard them singing. When they finished they heard clapping. Then the manager walked up. “That was great!” he said, “No, it was magnificent!” “Thanks.” they smiled. Chris went and talked to him for a minute. “What are they talking about?” Stephanie asked Savannah. “Who knows?” Savannah said. A few minutes later Chris came back and asked them, “Ok so what are you girls gonna call yourselves?” “What?” Stephanie and Savannah said looking at each other confused. “Our manager wants to be your manager too! He wants you to sign with him!” Chris said. “What! For real?!?!?” Stephanie said. “Yes! Isn’t it great!” he said. “Yeah...no it is FANTASTIC!!!” she squealed as she hugged Savannah. “Oh my gosh! So we are like gonna have a CD out?” Savannah said. “Yeah as soon as you sign the contract, you guys will start working on it. Oh and he also said he’d try and to let you be able to sing at some of the concerts!” Chris said. “Wow!” they said. “This is all happening so fast! But it is great!!” Stephanie said. “Can we call our mom’s and tell them?” Savannah asked. “Sure!” Chris said. They went to call home, laughing and talking about what just happened.
When they came back Stephanie said, “My mom said it would be great!” “Mine too!” Savannah said. Everyone was hugging and real happy for Stephanie and Savannah. “Wait what are you gonna be called?” Frankie asked. “I don’t know.” Stephanie said. She and Savannah talked it over and decided to call themselves S squared, and it would be like in math with the exponents. “That sounds cool!” Chris said. “Yeah!” everyone agreed and then they gave a toast, “To S squared!”
“My mom said she couldn’t wait for us to get started!” Savannah said to Stephanie as everyone went back to partying. “Mine too!” Steph said. “Oh this is so cool!” Savannah and Stephanie squealed jumping up and down. Savannah and Stephanie were the best of friends out of all the girls. “Savannah!” Frankie yelled for her to come there. “I’ll be back later! Oh I can’t get over how exciting this is!” she said. “I know!” Stephanie agreed, “I’m going to find Chris!” “Ok.” Savannah said and went over to Frankie. “I wanna tell you something baby!” Frankie said as Savannah sat down on his lap. “Ok!” she said. “I am very happy that you and your best friend get to perform together! You are gonna love it!” he told her. “Thanks me too! It is gonna be great!!” she said. He leaned in and they started making out.
Stephanie was looking around for Chris when someone came behind her and hugged her from behind. “Do you know how happy I am for you and Savannah?” Chris asked. “You scared me!” Stephanie told him, “Yeah, thanks! And we have you to thank!” “No problem!” he said and turned her around and kissed her.
The manager came out and said, “Ok everyone! I know we just had good news, and this is good but sort of bad in a way!” Everyone got quiet and he continued, “We are gonna start a tour up again, this isn’t working for us and it’ll be fun trust me; but unfortunately Sweet Candy will be staying here.” “Aw!” everyone said sadly. “We are leaving early tomorrow so say your goodbyes now, and get back to the hotel.” he said and left. Everyone was saying bye to the three girls and left for the hotel; the girls stayed behind for a meeting.
When everyone got to the hotel some called home. “I have bad news!” Ashley said hanging up the phone and Kayla picked it up to call home. “What’s wrong?” everyone asked. “I have to go home, we are going on a family vacation.” Ashley said sadly, “They have a ticket at the airport for me tomorrow!” “Man!” they all said. “Well that’s nothing! I have to go help my sister get ready to go off to college!” Kayla came in and said. “Your going home too?” Matt asked. “Afraid so!” Kayla replied. “Everyone is going home!!” Stephanie said, “It isn’t fair!” Everyone agreed. “I don’t wanna say this now! But I have to!” Britney said. “What?” Jesse asked. “I wanna go home! I’m homesick!” Britney said with a few tears in her eyes. “Aw! We don’t want you to but if you want to you can!” Jesse said. “I do!” Britney said. “Well you can fly back with Ashley and Kayla.” he said. “Wait...so only Stephanie and me will be on tour with you?” Savannah asked. “Looks that way babe!” Frankie said. “Not just you guys! You’ll have Lindsey, Amy and Nikki!” Ashley said. “Ugh!” Savannah and Stephanie wined together. Everyone laughed. They all packed and went to bed.
The next morning everyone got up around three a.m. and got ready to go to the air port. When they got there everyone said their goodbyes to Sweet Candy and Ashley, Kayla and Britney. The girl group left and the guys and them got on a plane heading to Chicago, and the three other girls got on a plane to New York. After everyone was seated there was a long silence. “Ok guys I know you are bummed about everyone leaving and stuff.” Claudia came up and said, “But we have good news, Savannah and Stephanie, we are gonna let you open up for the guys!” “Oh my gosh!” Savannah said. “For real?!?” Stephanie said. “Yeah! You guys will have to practice the songs we have for you; and you’ll have to work extra hard on the choreography I have planned. Are you up for it!” They looked at each other then back at Claudia, “Yeah!” they said. “Ok great! Here are some lyrics for you to be looking over.” she said and left. “Wow! Fun!” Stephanie said. “Yeah! These songs are so us girl!!” Savannah said. “Yeah I know it!” Steph replied. They settled in and read the lyrics as the plane took off.
